The tip to install it in Compatiblity Mode CM doesn't work in this case probably because the system uses it only during the installation process. The driver still have to run into Win10 system. The first one is I find crazy to disable by default the boot menu from which you can trigger safe mode.
By default the user can trigger it, only by logging into the system and do same specific task. The second one is the Microsoft generic video driver. This could have been the solution to my problem if only it can be more flexible. I cannot run it into x Excluding this video driver issue, it seems to run fine, but I cannot use it with the display in that condition. I tried this and it worked. Also, the entire upgrade process was also quite slow.
If you own a Atom tablet running Windows 8 and want to upgrade, then follow these steps:. I tried to install the old intel video driver in win10 using compatibility mode set to win8 to no avail. I am back on 8. I did notice the CM defaulted to winXP for the driver but that seemed wrong since it works in win7 and 8. I have try days and days to put the computer working perfectly and now i have the soluction for the problem and its very very simple I have installed the intel graphics media accelarator and now i can use 2 monitors and conect the pc to my tv.

User's post on July 30, My issue doesn't seem to be related to the driver delivery. There are 2 points that I wish to raise. My experience is that you usually need it, when you aren't able to logon.
This is what happened in my case. Sadly, after about 2 days of work, I decided to roll back to my Win7.

Thirty computers that are not that old and can't be upgraded to Windows 10 because of the GMA driver.
We are a public non-profit and this stunt of Intel and Microsoft pointing fingers at each other is going to cost us big time. When I upgrade my hardware I plan on steering clear of Intel. A nice thought would be if Intel would release the driver so that someone else could write a driver for it.
I would even be willing to pay for a driver, since that would be far less expensive than replacing hardware. Really a sad state of affairs. Microsoft comes out touting that Windows 10 will work on most machines that run Windows 7 and it wasn't true at all.
Guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am terribly disappointed. Are these thirty computer connected to a Domain Network or Home Network? Please write back to us with the required information for further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you. Well, there doesn't seem to be any help from either Microsoft or intel, and only few days left for the free upgrade period. I think it is a good idea for everyone with incompatible display driver to disable it, do the upgrade and then go back to your original operating system.
This way your machine will have a valid Windows 10 key, and you can upgrade for free any time in the future in case a display driver is provided. I thought to share my experience of upgrading to windows 10 and back. First I saved a complete backup and system image on an external drive just in case.
Then, I disabled the GMA adapter in device manager and did an in-place upgrade by downloading and running the upgrade assistant from Microsoft Click the Upgrade now button to begin the upgrade. The process was pretty much straight forward, just follow simple pressing "OK button", but quite lengthy. It took almost hours for the whole process to complete and launch Windows 10 welcome screen. You will be given the option to select few settings so you can select them or just choose express settings since you will be going back anyways.
I have Windows 10 on other computers so I'm quite familiar with it, but I spent few hours checking it on the little machine. It ran pretty well actually better than Windows 7, but naturally the big drawback was the poor display resolution and some related features.
The brightness control didn't work and the sleep option in power was missing. Other than that everything else worked well, but I believe it is not worth it to keep Windows 10 with an inferior display. Although I have a month but I decided to go back after one day. Going back to Windows 7 was much easier than I thought. It took probably less than 30 minutes and I was back in Windows 7 the same way I left it. I enabled the GMA adaptor and restarted, and could immediately see the huge difference in display.
Everything was fine except for one problem, I could not run the backup or system image creation and they were giving missing libraries and corrupt catalog errors. Initially I was very disappointed and worried but after some little search I found the solution was very easy. Go to file manager and right click on libraries and restore defaults. Also when you run system image creation it will give you an error of corrupted catalog and ask you to delete it and create new one, just ok and it will be as good as new.
